• Tudor House

    Tudor House Hotel, situated in the centre of the traditional market town of Market Drayton, Shropshire. This Grade 2 listed building, an English Heritage site, was built in the 17th century. It is arguably the most magnificent building within the pretty town of Market Drayton.

  • Welcome to Market Drayton

    Market Drayton is a wonderfully compact town lying almost completely between the River Tern (a subsidiary of the Severn) and the A53 bypass to the north. Within those boundaries is a core of attractive historic buildings, a wide variety of retailing mainly in the centre, some light industry, and a good selection of housing stock. The Shropshire Union canal runs through it from north to south. It is situated in a predominantly rural area in the north east of Shropshire on the border with Staffordshire; a few miles to the north is Cheshire.

The Market Drayton Community Partnership – MDCP – was formed in February 2012 as a direct result of the publication in September 2011 of the Market Drayton Town plan – www.shrop.net/mdtownplan

This was the first Community led Plan for the Town and sought to :

- create a series of prioritised actions to form a strategic plan for the next 5 -10 years

- ensure the adoption and support of the Town Council and Shropshire Council

- bring together the views of the 1350 households that responded to the survey of needs ,backed up by research and validation

- support the development of the Town

One of the recommendations within the Town Plan was the establishment of an organisation “ which is flexible ,proactive and has wide support to take forward the work and actions identified in the plan.”

In other words the aims of the MDCP are to try to develop ideas in to reality and action.

Membership is open to all residents in Market Drayton, is free of charge and operates on a voluntary basis. We would welcome new members and all that you would have to do is contact us via the details in the contacts page. We operate through a simple structure with an Annual general meeting to discuss and report on ideas, progress and have a Working Group which meets approximately monthly to deal with detailed business. We have three working groups which focus on issues related to;

1. Enterprise and Growth

2. Environment and Climate Change

3. People and Communities

Details of these Working groups are given on other pages.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all who would like to join with us to try to make Market Drayton “a good place to live and work” as we said in our plan.
